Car Rental companies talk merger

Four of the major U.S. rental car brands are discussing a merger of their two parent companies, according to a published report.
The New York Times said the talks involve Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (Charts), which operates under those two names, and privately held Vanguard Car Rental, which operates the Alamo and National rent-a-car brands. The deal might be worth $3 billion, according to the report.

Car Rental Comparision

CarRentals.co.uk claims to be the first impartial comparison site as it does not charge companies to be included in its search, unlike other comparison websites.

The website features car hire deals from 40 different rental websites for 4,000 destinations across the world, including companies such as Holiday Autos, E-Bookers, Opodo, Alamo, Thrifty and EasyCar.

“We have developed what we believe is the first genuine car hire comparator with extensive reach. It uses the latest technology to search up to 40 car hire sites for the best possible deals available at any one time. No major comparators have done this to date, meaning consumers may not be getting as good a deal as they thought,” said Gareth Robinson, marketing director of Carrentals
