Most of the car rental companies offer an option of a partial insurance or rather a full car coverage along with other rental services. LDW is among one of these optional services, it usually ranges from $10 to $15 per day. Some people complain as the costs of coverages on the car could some time be about the same as the rental charges. (Which is indeed the only disadvantage)
Recently a customer had a luxury car for a two day rental period. Unfortunately while going under an overpass the front windshield shatters while couple of kids on the overpass dropped “water balloons” down.
The only option for the customer to repair the damages was to replace the glass and for a luxury car it costs about $250-$400 to replace a windshield. However choosing to have only the car coverage, the customer paid only $24 for the whole rental period for covering the car.
Obviously the advantages prevails the few (if any) disadvantages.
Car rental companies might offer services that to some seem useless, however LDW is not one of them.
