Gas fees for Car Rental dont make cents

Tom Parsons of Dallas Morning News writes about the gas fees that many or almost all the car rental companies charge in many different ways.Parsons gives a very detailed picture and advices as to how to avoid these charges from the rental car companies.

Whenever I rent a car, I’m amazed at how many fees are tacked on: a variety of taxes, additional equipment costs and the insurance you probably don’t need. Another avenue used to generate revenue is fuel fees.

Car Rental- Avis Budget Group Results for 2006

As per the press release by Avis Budget Group,Inc here are the results for 4th Qtr of 2006 and full year results.

  • Full-year revenue increased 5%, to a record $5.7 billion.
  • Avis Budget Car Rental generated full-year pro forma EBITDA of $405 million and pro forma pretax income of $172 million.
  • Avis Budget Car Rental generated full-year pretax income of $190 million.
  • Avis Budget Car Rental’s fourth quarter revenues of $1.3 billion and pro forma EBITDA of $88 million were in line with the Company’s projections.
  • Avis Budget Car Rental earned fourth quarter pretax income of $28 million.
  • Company continued to expand off-airport revenues.

Car Rentals-Car Seat Conundrum

As reported on washinton post dated February 18, 2007, Sheri Annis of Chevy Chase arrived at the Hertz counter in the Los Angeles airport with luggage and a tired toddler, expecting that, as in the past, a Hertz employee would help her install the child safety seat she’d reserved along with a car. But the policy has changed, she was told, and assistance is neither available nor allowed.
