There is yet another entry in the car rental space. SIXT, one of Europe’s largest firms in the space has made its Indian foray and has made Sona Group its master franchisee for India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
The SIXT group is a global player that supplies quality mobility solutions and has entered into partnerships with leading airlines, hotel chains, B2B customers, especially corporates.
The company provides holiday cars, limousine services, and self-drive services as part of its bouquet of products. Though the company has been in India since a few months, it is scheduled to declare its official launch in the Indian market by October end 2006. The Sona group, an Indian automobile components maker, has set up its new division called Sona Mobility Services, which will spearhead the SIXT business in India.
Vikas Marwah, corporate head (Marketing and Alliance), Sona Mobility Services, says, “The initial investment in the car rental business is US $15 million. The fleet of cars in India will have in its fold all the quality sedan models. The company has already acquired a fleet of more than 300 cars and is in deals with blue chip companies at present.
